Hiking, cycling ...

Around the "Donkey mountain", there are beautiful trails with breathtaking views. Best seasons for hiking and cycling are spring and autumn, until November.

A wonderful panoramic view and, depending on the weather, a view to the sea you have from the  » Rocca di Pietracassia, a Castell from the 11th Century. This can be reached e.g. after a one-hour walk from Lajatico.

Directly from the house on lonely dirt roads, with a mountain bike or a motocross-suitable motorcycle, you can drive also numerous round trips.

Swimming

On well-developed roads, in about 60 minutes, via Saline di Volterra you can reach Cecina Mare, a pretty seaside resort where you can still feel the former golden times of the 50's and 60's. The small town of Cecina with its small shops and Cecina Mare with the long promenade and the many bars still have great charm.

Around Cecina there are sandy beaches that are never crowded even in midsummer. The adjacent shady pine forests provide protection for sun-sensitives and a huge selection of hammock cookies.

Worth a day trip is the island of » Elba. After about an hour's ferry ride from Piombino, you can enjoy the crystal-clear water in Portoferraio after a short walk to the other side of the harbor.

Nearby, behind Lajatico, until july you can cool down in the 10 minute drive, swimming in the river "Sterza". Or all year round, after a short walk in the 20 minutes drive "Cascata del Ghiaccione" near Chianni ...

Or just swim two rounds on the "Donkey Mountain" with the goldfish in the big pond!

Beeing creative

On the "Colle all 'Asino" there is enough space, possibilities and inspiration to be creative or artistic.
